Bio-filler treatments - Orange County, with Dr. John Laura

Plasma Gel Bio-filler is an organic alternative to synthetic fillers like hyaluronic acid that has many advantages over traditional fillers. It is a safe and minimally invasive treatment that can help you achieve the results of a facelift without having to undergo surgery. This relatively new treatment has exploded in popularity recently because of its proven safety and lack of side effects and risks. In addition to common uses on the face and neck, it can also be used to rejuvenate hands, aid in the lifting of the buttocks, and as a filler, it can be used to add volume anywhere on the body it is lacking.

Benefits of Bio-Filler with Plasma Gel

Bio-filler has many benefits compared to traditional synthetic fillers. Since the filler is autologous, meaning It is made from the patient’s own blood, it is immediately recognized by the body as its own. This means it is easily accepted and highly absorbable. While there can be some risks involving rejection or allergic reaction associated with synthetic fillers, there are no such known risks associated with bio-filler treatment.

Bio-filler can be supplemented with PRP. The combination provides great results for dents under the eyes, nasolabial lines, marionette lines, wrinkles on the upper lips, sagging cheeks, temple, as well as décolleté and neck lines. This plasma is full of native growth factors which stimulate the production of collagen and blood vessels in treated areas. Thus once the gel is fully absorbed in a few months, it will have been partially replaced by a natural collagen latticework that buoys and supports far better than any filler.

Uses for Bio-Filler with Plasma Gel

A series of strategically placed injections can add volume to areas that have sunk with age and can fill in fine lines. In the hands, the filler can be placed between each of the meta-tarsals, filling in sunken areas and erasing the skeletal look. In the face, it can be placed under the eyes to fill sunken eye hallows, it can also fill in fine wrinkles and round out and fill in divots in the buttocks area.

It is most commonly used to treat the following concerns

What Can I Expect?

At your appointment, we will first draw blood from your arm to make the bio-filler. This blood is placed into a machine that uses centrifugal force to separate plasma from the blood. This plasma is then filtered and processed to create your own personal bio-matched plasma gel.

Next, we insert the gel strategically using just the right amount of filler in multiple locations to achieve your desired results. This part of the process is generally well tolerated and takes between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the treatment area.

You can expect to see results immediately following your first treatment. There is no downtime associated with this procedure though there may be some initial swelling or bruising which will quickly subside. Your body will absorb the bio-filler over the next several weeks and months. Depending on where injected, and whether used in combination with PRP, this process can build new blood vessels in the area and generates a collagen network beneath the skin, further adding natural volume. For optimum results, your injector may recommend a series of 3 or more treatments spaced 8 weeks apart. After that, follow-up maintenance treatments may be needed about once a year.
