Botox & Neurotoxin treatments - Orange County, with Dr. John Laura

Every one of us struggles with the effects of aging, especially in the skin where it is most evident. As we get older, we start developing wrinkles and fine lines, and our skin starts to loosen and sag. This, in turn, makes us lose our youthful appearance, and in most cases even makes us look much older than we actually are. Besides, an old appearance means you also look tired, dull, and unapproachable; which isn’t something most want. Leave anti-aging to the skilled aesthetic technicians at Dr. John Laura’s office who provide some of the most natural-looking results available.

Some people see as early as their late twenties, that they start developing fine lines on their faces, especially around their mouth, nose, eyes, and forehead. Many try using products aimed at removing these lines such as anti-wrinkle creams, or they follow certain diets and lifestyles. However, the truth is that such products do not always produce the desired outcomes, and no amount of dieting and exercise can prevent you from developing wrinkles and fine lines.

While signs of aging can be very unpleasant, it is not a dead end. With Dr. John Laura’s help, you can restore and maintain your youthful appearance once again using neurotoxins.

What Are Neurotoxins?

Neurotoxins are one of the most common non-surgical cosmetic procedures across the globe. It is minimally invasive, which makes it so easy and straightforward for so many patients. Every year, practitioners around the world provide more than 6 million Botox (Neurotoxin) treatments to patients of all ages, including both men and women. The FDA has approved it for use on patients between the ages of 18 to 65.

To put it simply, Botox can help get rid of unwanted fine lines and wrinkles that develop on the skin as we age. It is a solution that is created from a neurotoxin known as botulinum toxin. Used in the exact right amount, Botox can relax facial muscles and result in a younger, more toned facial surface on patients.

With Dr. John Laura, you can experience the most natural-looking results.

How Do Neurotoxins Work?

As mentioned before, Neurotoxins can relax the facial muscles. This is precisely how it can help you achieve a younger appearance. When the solution is administered to you using injections, it enters the deeper layers of the skin. Once there, it works to interrupt signals traveling from your nerves to your muscles. In other words, the targeted muscle does not receive the message from the brain to move and contract, which results in temporary paralysis of the muscle. Since the targeted muscles on your face are unable to move, the fine lines on your face are then relaxed and softened.

Who is a Suitable Candidate for Neurotoxins?

Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport or Xeomin may be the ideal solution for you if you identify with the following:

  • You are between 18 to 65 years old.
  • You have fine lines on your face, especially around your mouth, nose, eyes, and on your forehead.
  • You wish to get rid of these lines and achieve a younger, more toned appearance.

What is the Procedure Like?

Botox is a minimally invasive procedure and does not involve any surgeries. You don’t even have to spend that much time at the clinic. With Dr. John Laura, you will find that everything is done to make you feel safe and comfortable during the procedure. Dr. Laura will personally ensure that your procedure is carried out as safely and efficiently as possible.

The actual treatment usually takes no more than 15 minutes. How many injections are required depends on your unique conditions, goals and other factors. During the procedure, you won’t need anesthesia as it is only minimally invasive. It is also important to note that it is completely normal to experience minimal discomfort just like with a normal injection, such as a slight burning sensation. If you are highly sensitive to pain, then Dr. Laura may apply a cold compress or a numbing agent in the areas to be treated for a more comfortable experience.

After this, a tiny needle is then used to inject the Botox solution into your skin targeting the underlying facial muscles, which are causing the wrinkles.

What is the Recovery Like?

The great thing is that there is virtually no downtime involved with Neurotoxin treatments. You don’t have to stay overnight in the clinic or hospital after your procedure. You can go home right after and carry on with your daily schedule. However, it is advised that you wait up to four hours before lying down to prevent the migration of your Neurotoxins and also to avoid any rubbing in the areas that were treated.
