SCLEROTHERAPY

At Dr. John Laura’s clinic, we focus on feeling and looking younger. Varicose and spider veins make a lot of patients feel older than they are. Sclerotherapy allows us to reduce or eliminate this concern.

Sclerotherapy - Orange County with Dr. John Luara

At Dr. John Laura’s clinic, we can help you to disolve and eliminate bulging, unsightly and painful varicose veins and pesky colorful spider veins with just a few treatments.

Our clinic can perform a simple, non-surgical treatment that dissolves unwanted, visible veins, and reroutes blood through deeper areas of the body. Varicose veins are not only painful, they can also cause embarrassment, preventing you from feeling confident in your favorite sundress, swimsuit, or pair of shorts. Spider veins, while not as uncomfortable, can still riddle your otherwise smooth skin with a weblike array of fine blue and red lines. Sclerotherapy is your solution for smooth, pain-free, and shorts-ready skin.

How Does Sclerotherapy Work?

Sclerotherapy has been in continual use for almost a hundred years and is a proven, safe and effective procedure. It is commonly used to treat two types of veins:

Spider veins: Very fine, often red or purple veins that appear directly under the skin, most commonly on the legs and face. Women are more likely to be affected by them.
Varicose veins: These are veins that are twisted and enlarged, appearing blue under the skin. They tend to be especially visible on the calves and the back of the legs.

The procedure involves injecting a sclerosing saline solution into offending veins which causes the blood vessel walls to collapse on themselves, sealing the vein off from further blood flow and rendering them useless to the body. This forces blood flow to reroute through deepr, hidden blood vessels. The now useless varicose and spider veins are then naturally dissolved and disposed of over the course of a few weeks by your bodys own metabolic processes. Elimination of these veins also eliminates the discomfort associated with them.

Side-effects, down-time, and results

This non-surgical, minimally-invasive treatment is safe and well-tolerated with few side-effects. The injection may cause an initial sense of discomfort or mild pain which will pass quickly.

You can expect to notice initial results within a few weeks with full results achieved within six months after the treatment. Larger veins may require several treatment sessions before fully disappearing.

The entire procedure just takes a few minutes and typically requires no downtime. This makes it a great “lunch-break” procedure. Most clients opt to return to their normal schedule directly following their procedure.
